World in Chaos
In today’s world, chaos and uncertainty are all around us, and people are increasingly anxious and stressed about the future. Life in the United States has become more demanding, with the cost of living constantly rising. People are working longer hours just to put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads, all while dealing with the ongoing repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, we find ourselves in a critical and stressful situation, with many people on the brink of burnout.
The CEO’s Dilemma: Retaining Talent
Having worked with CEOs and top management across three continents, it’s clear that they are well aware of these challenges. They are striving to navigate this stressful era, where their concerns extend beyond physical assets to their human assets. A pressing question arises: How can we prevent our staff from leaving us for a slightly higher hourly wage?
Employees and leaders across all levels of the hierarchy experience stress and desire a more peaceful, abundant, and prosperous life. However, not everyone achieves these goals. This is where our focus should be on our human assets to prevent burnout and job loss. Burnout creates a challenging situation for both the employee and the employer, as it hampers the entity’s success when a skilled employee is lost.
Empowering Staff Through Resilience
One of the best solutions is to empower staff with resilience. Our DNA contains an inherent gift of resilience, but it develops to different degrees in each person. Moreover, resilience comprises various elements that directly impact its level. Strengthening or neglecting these elements can significantly affect one’s resilience.
My Nine Essential Resilience Elements
After conducting research, I identified nine essential elements that helped me overcome the challenges I faced after losing an eye in an accident during my growth. This incident led to my rejection by others, which was a devastating experience. However, by focusing on these elements, I was able to bounce back from the physical and emotional damage.
When employees are aware of these elements and receive training to enhance each one, they prepare themselves to elevate their strengths and address their weaknesses. Teams are encouraged to concentrate on their members’ strengths, creating resilient individuals and teams. This preparedness allows them to confront and conquer challenges, whether they stem from the workplace or life’s daily struggles.
Empowering your employees and making them resilient to both work and life challenges not only boosts their productivity but also increases retention rates. They experience greater job security, find satisfaction in their work, and receive recognition for their strengths rather than their weaknesses.
